Updated 1/25/2026
We are a family-owned production cut flower farm growing a lot of flowers thoughtfully, efficiently, and with care. We are looking for kind, capable humans to join our crew for the 2026 season!
This is real farm work. It is fast paced, outdoors, physical, sometimes repetitive, and deeply satisfying if you like doing meaningful work well. We take our flowers seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously.
Schedule
March through November
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
8:00am to 4:00pm
Some flexibility with hours is possible (you may have kids to pick up!) but the days are not flexible as we have a production schedule for grocery stores, farmers markets, and our flower club.
What the work is like
Our days revolve around harvesting flowers, producing bouquets and bunches, planting, and farm maintenance. This work requires standing for long periods, maintaining speed and accuracy, and doing the same task well over and over again. Crew members also help with weeding, irrigation, flower processing, cleanup, and other general farm tasks.
While we are surrounded by beautiful flowers, this is production farming, not floral design. Efficiency, consistency, and quality are non-negotiable!
Experience
We are looking for applicants with at least one year of farming, landscape work, grocery or retail, or other relevant customer service experience. Prior production agriculture or horticulture experience is a plus. Never been on a farm before? That’s okay too. We highly value willingness to learn and be part of our team.
Starting pay is $15 per hour.
Pay increases are evaluated at the end of each season.
Crew members who are invited back and choose to return for a subsequent season can expect an increase in hourly pay based on performance.
All hours worked are paid. We value fairness and transparency.
Expectations
This is a production farm. Showing up consistently and doing the work well matters.
We expect crew members to:
Arrive on time and ready to work at the scheduled start time
Maintain a steady, efficient pace throughout the day
Follow systems and instructions carefully so quality stays high
Take ownership of tasks without needing constant direction
Communicate clearly if something is unclear or if a problem arises
Respect tools, infrastructure, and shared workspaces
Treat fellow crew members and farm leadership with professionalism and kindness
Help us all get better! Feedback is a gift and we promise to listen and take any and all ideas to improve our processes seriously
This work can be physically demanding and mentally repetitive. Also it’s farming in Texas, we work on cold rainy days and hot sunny days (a lot of those, actually). Success here requires stamina, focus, and a willingness to do unglamorous tasks with care and consistency. We listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks while we work, go out to lunch from time to time, and try to make the farm a happy and welcoming place you look forward to coming to!
Seasonal return and growth
We hope you will return for many seasons! At the end of each season, we evaluate performance based on attendance, reliability, pace, accuracy, ability to work independently, and overall contribution to the team. Returning crew members often take on greater responsibility as familiarity with farm systems increases.
We are happy to train and support people who want to improve. This role works best for people who are self-motivated, observant, and take pride in doing things well.
Texas Labor and Workplace Notes
This position is an hourly, at will, part-time role. Work hours may occasionally vary due to weather, crop needs, or seasonal demands. All hours worked are paid in accordance with Texas and US labor law.
This role involves outdoor agricultural work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Reasonable breaks are provided, and access to drinking water and shade is always available.
Reliable attendance is essential in a production farming environment. Repeated unexcused absences, chronic tardiness, or failure to communicate schedule conflicts may result in reduced hours or termination.
Want to be part of our farm this season?
Email jenna@paperbirdflowerfarm.com with a brief letter of interest, your resume, and three references (name, relationship, and either phone or email). Please include all three. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
FAQs
Is this a floral design job?
No. This is production farming and bouquet assembly according to a pre-defined recipe. Speed, consistency, and quality matter more than creative design.
Is this a good fit for someone new to farming?
This role is best suited for people with at least some experience in farming, production work, or fast paced customer service environments. We do train, but we expect a strong baseline of reliability and work ethic.
What is a typical day like?
Most days involve harvesting flowers, processing stems, making bouquets, and general farm tasks such as planting, weeding, and cleanup. Tasks can be repetitive and physically demanding.
Do you work in extreme weather?
Depends how extreme (kidding, mostly). We work outdoors in a wide range of conditions. Safety, water, shade, and breaks are always prioritized. We take breaks and have lots of popsicles in the summer.
Are hours guaranteed?
The schedule is consistent, but hours may occasionally shift due to weather or crop needs. Communication is always provided when adjustments are necessary.
Can this lead to more responsibility or higher pay?
Yes. Returning crew members who perform well and come back for additional seasons are prioritized for pay increases and added responsibility.
Are there, like…bugs on the farm?
Yes. Spiders, bees, ants, occasional snakes (not too often, or I’d tell ya.) We also have pleasant creatures like our dogs, cats, chickens, and so many cool birds.
Do I get to take home flowers?
Yes. We often have flowers for you to take home :)
