The Story Behind Our T-Shirt (and Our New Colorway)
We have a new t-shirt colorway, and before we tell you about it, we need to tell you about the shirt itself, because we don’t think we’ve ever properly said how much it means to us.
We’ve mailed this shirt all across the country. People we’ve never met are wearing it in cities we’ve never been to. A dear customer told us once that her husband spotted someone wearing it at the mall, a complete stranger, wearing the same shirt hanging in their own closet at home. That’s the part that gets us. People connecting over something we made, in a place we’ve never been, without us anywhere in the picture.
We’ve had people walk up to our tent at the farmers market and say “oh, THIS is where everyone is getting that shirt” before they’ve even introduced themselves. That never gets old.
The design is by Kelley Willis of Brainflower Designs, and it is exactly what we asked for: something that looked like us, felt like us, told our story without a single word of explanation.
Kelley works with a lot of music and festival brands, and a few summers ago the band Phish liked it so much they used a version of it for their tour merch. We take that as confirmation that we made the right call keeping it exactly as it is. It also made us feel so cool.
So we didn’t change a thing about the design. But we’ve been doing this long enough now to know when it’s time for something fresh, and this new colorway feels like us right now: bolder, brighter, more sure of ourselves than we were when we made the first one.
It’s a Comfort Colors tee, if you know the brand, you know what you’re getting. It’s the good stuff. Slightly heavier weight than our first run, the kind of shirt you reach for because it actually feels good to wear.
You can usually find our shirts at the Denton Community Market and Rockwall Farmers Market on Saturdays, out at the farm stand on Sundays, or shipped straight to you through our online shop.
This shirt has already traveled further than we ever expected. We can’t wait to see where yours ends up.
